The emphasis of the ADV2 progression is to refine technical skills while taking the participant's positional and tactical game to a more advanced level. Amateur goaltenders, in large part, become strong technical goaltenders but often do not master the tactical or positional side of the position. This program represents a strong step in this direction.
ON-ICE PROGRAM [Back to top]
During on-ice sessions, participants will focus on technical refinement and tactical training. Through technical refinement, participants will gain greater control of save executions, recovery and the position-specific movement skills, which propel them into position. Sessions will concentrate on goaltender mobility, establishing stronger positional play, applying psychological resources to read and dictate flows of attack, and will see the introduction of team transition skills. Additionally, positioning while down will also be introduced at this level.
OFF-ICE PROGRAM [Back to top]
When off-ice, students will take part in a daily program aimed at goaltender-specific fitness, team building and other challenging activities. Goalies will embark on a structured off-ice conditioning program which will include fitness testing and the exercises necessary to advance balance, leg power, flexibility, hand-eye, agility, strength, and aerobic/anaerobic fuel systems. Additional activities include team sports, swimming and others.
