Camps and Services / Program Overviews / P4

This is a National Development Camp program only.

INTRO

The GDI PROSPECT progression is unique. The emphasis of this program is two-fold. First, participating athletes will follow the most sophisticated development curriculum available today. Through this program, they will be exposed to advanced tactical, positional, and transitional training. In addition, GDI's exclusive education/repetition/simulation (ERS™) teaching system ensures optimal at-camp growth and evaluation.

ON-ICE PROGRAM  [Back to top]

The ERS™ system is applied to the Prospect on-ice curriculum. This means that the morning session will focus on implementing a strong understanding of technical components (education). In the afternoon session, the goaltender will be exposed to high repetitions of the concepts (repetition). These repetitions enable the goalie to make "real" change in their technical response. Finally, in a third session, the goaltender will be subjected to game simulations. These simulations will provide opportunities for spontaneous response as well as providing GDI personnel opportunities for enhanced performance assessment.

OFF-ICE PROGRAM  [Back to top]

Athletes will undergo intensive training in the areas of proprioception, flexibility, fuel systems, agility, power, strength, speed and visual acuity. The weeklong program will parallel a typical training schedule for a world-class athlete.

Additional off-ice activity will include lectures, competitive sport ladders, team building, journal notes, and much more.

OFFICIAL GDI ENDORSEMENT  [Back to top]

At the conclusion of the P4 program, qualifying athletes will receive an official GDI endorsement letter. This letter has a number of components. First, it constitutes GDI's recognition that the athlete has achieved a specific level of development. Second, it establishes the level of competition the athlete is prepared to compete (i.e. Junior B, Junior A, Major Junior, and NCAA Div. I). The athlete, in their pursuit of competitive opportunities, can use these endorsements. Additionally, GDI, at the request of the athlete, will circulate copies of the letter to all teams within the designated competitive level.
