Yutaka made his National Hockey League debut on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. With Los Angeles' top two goaltenders Dan Cloutier and Mathieu Garon out with injuries, Yutaka was recalled to back up Barry Brust. After Brust allowed five goals on twenty shots, Kings head coach Marc Crawford inserted Fukufuji into the game to start the third period. He faced five shots, allowing only a goal by St. Louis' Dennis Wideman. Unfortunately, that proved to be the game-winning goal, earning Yutaka the loss.
